I’ve always been fascinated by the work of Joseph Cornell and have made a number of “boxes” inspired by his work. In my studio, I have hundreds of found objects lying about and sometimes they seem to find their way to each other and want to belong together—either by theme, color, texture or some undefinable something. Such was the case with this piece of tile and old magazine cut-outs. Each rested in opposite piles for years and then wound up sitting together one day and caught my eye.
